Calamity days could extend district year in Ohio
Superintendent notes Southwest Local School District may need to make up calamity days after weather closures. With 182 in-session days required for state aid, missed days would reduce funding unless made up, prompting potential June completion and a push to abolish five calamity days in 1985-86.

Lawmaker Proposes Use Of Local Taxes For County Roads
State representative Rob ert Bischoff applauded passage of House Bill 1020 changing a 50 year restriction on county highway funding. Since 1931 vehicle fees and gasoline tax funded upkeep, the bill would allow use of local county income tax revenue for road maintenance in counties with such a tax. Bischoff said rural highways deteriorate as local governments lack funds and the bill could restore roads in counties with county adjusted gross tax or county option income tax.
