The William Henry Harrison High School Band returned from a week at Camp Harry Olden on Route 46 near Harrison. The program imposed a strict conditioning regime in preparation for the football season.
Mr. and Mrs. Carmon DeLeone named campaign chairs for the 1975 Breath of Life Campaign of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. They will head volunteers raising funds for research care and education aiding CF centers and affected children. Door-to-door fund drive to occur in the Ohio River to Indiana state line area.
A 15 year old from Harrison accidentally shot himself in the foot on Monday evening August 25. He was taken to a Cincinnati hospital by the Harrison Life Squad and is in good condition.
Betty Ray Jackson Emma Caito Olive Jackman Edna Radcliffe and Marge Pratt led first Presbyterian Church members in making 42 blocks for a Harrison 125 year history quilt. Designed by Marge Platt the piece will be shown at Marge & Jeanne's Fabric Shop after Labor Day and at the Village Historical Society Quilt Show on Sept 20 with silent bids starting at 200 dollars.
The Fischer family began bootmaking in 1836 with work in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh before moving to Cincinnati and Harrison in 1848. The business endured Morgan raids in 1863, a town hall explosion in 1878 that burned a member, then passed to John and later Chester W who expanded from boots to a clothing store by 1912 and took over the local shoe shop in 1930.
