Attendant Louis Algana recounts the quiet scene before the head fell to the chair’s side, shocking the neighborhood. Edwards was described as steady and hard working, with no prior signs of illness.
The Cleveland rolling-mills strike, active since July 1 over wage reductions, ends after the company agrees to restore June prices and reopen. Leaders sought extra management conditions, but a large meeting tonight declared the strike off. Mills to start tomorrow at June prices.
In Wilmington on September 26 two hundred spectators watched Sewall Starkey a colored elderly offender endure an hour in the pillory and twenty lashes for burglary while James Kirk a white man received ten lashes for stealing railway switch keys. Sheriff Todd administered the sentences, using a lighter touch on both.
SPINGFIELD Mass September 26 Mrs Olive Cleveland Clarke of this city celebrated her one hundredth birthday today Her mother lived to be 104 years old and her father to over ninety Mrs Clarke is a distant relative of President Cleveland.
William Sebastian aged fourteen, inmate of Soldiers' Orphans' Home, went walnuting yesterday afternoon. He climbed a tree, lost balance and fell thirty feet, dying a few hours later at the home.
An unusual portent appeared in the northwest sky last night as a huge tea meteoric body rose over Conception Bay and traversed an arc of thirty to forty degrees within seven minutes, witnessed by St. Joan's N. F. parishioners.

A dynamite blast at a York Haven paper mill project killed John Morrissey of Washington DC and injured three other workers. Morrissey was struck while drilling and died that evening. Thomas O'Brien suffered a severe head wound and burns, Patrick Hagerty lost an eye and sustained burns, and John O'Connor endured serious injuries.
Contractors complete fifty memorial tablets set in the interior walls of the Washington Monument. The stones are riveted and surrounded with decorative work as a safety upgrade. Moses Marrenellah a 106 year old Christian Jew died today at the County Poor house in Poughkeepsie N Y He came to the United States from Germany seventy years ago and traveled the world In 1849 he walked to California and worked in the gold mines meeting success For many years he took a prominent part in camp meetings and religious gatherings and preached in Sunday schools He was never married.
In Stoughton Massachusetts, September 25, Mrs Mark Lathrop assisted her husband with plowing when a vicious bull struck her, tearing open her bowels and causing severe injury. Neighbor Mrs McCourt witnessed the attack. surgeons hold slight hope for recovery.
Leavenworth Kansas September 25 James C Pusey former chief clerk at the penitentiary pled guilty and received an eight year sentence He alleges ex Governor Glick and Warden Jones knew of crooked activity at the State coal mine and claims coal was supplied to Glick and his son in law without payment The case has stirred much talk.
A distinct earthquake shock struck McKee’s Rocks on the Ohio River and Washington Pa, causing alarm across the region. The tremor lasted about two minutes, accompanied by a rumbling sound like thunder, at around 4 o'clock this afternoon.

In Martinsburg West Virginia Robbins Circus concert last night a sudden storm soaked the tent then a gale snapped ropes and the center pole. The tent collapsed onto about two to three thousand spectators and animals causing panic. About twenty five hurt though no deaths reported.

Boston on September 28 an official report states the Bank Examiner investigating the Framingham Savings Bank has found cashier Coleman Adams defrauded about 228000 dollars. The examiner seeks an injunction preventing the bank from further business until its affairs are straightened out after Adams death by his own hand last August.
Syracuse reports Mrs Veronica Bulla near fifty days of fasting starting August 10. She has not taken solid food and has only water, losing about twenty pounds.
