Girl Scout Cadette Troop 75 of Venice plans a 2.5 week expedition starting in Nashville for the Cumberland Valley Opryland Jamboree. They will camp, raft, hike the Appalachian Trail, and attend Pioneer Days with 12 scouts and 4 adults accompanied by two chaperones and leaders.

Englewood's Gramps Celebrates 91st Birthday
Englewood resident Nels Carstensen, known as Gramps, turns 91 and plans a northward trek after recovering from a winter illness in Venice Hospital. The independent former cowboy lives alone on Dearborn Street, splits time between his ranch in Philip, South Dakota, and Englewood with daily post office walks. His friend Mrs. Mercie Carnahan and daughter Mrs. Glenn Griggs watch over him.
