President Ford sent regards as 6 Venice High School seniors received their Bicentennial diplomas in a ceremony at the Ringling Circus arena attended by county officials and about 3,000 guests. Dignitaries included Venice Mayor Harry Case Port Mayor Margaret Gentle School Supt Eugene Pillot and School Board Chairman Rich Ehlers.

Venice County Ambulance Subsidy May End This Summer
The Venice Ambulance Service subsidy of 1200 dollars a month could end as early as August if the county finds a CETA funded interim system. Deputy director Mike Frazier said the subsidy is temporary and will last until the new system, funded by CETA with borrowed equipment and personnel, is ready. If residents vote to create a special taxing district in September, interim service would continue until the new system begins.
