Lorain firemen face contempt action over strike
Striking Lorain firefighters who rejected a back-to-work order faced contempt of court action by Judge Paul Mikus. The 101 firefighters walked out May 5 after failing to secure a city counteroffer and a new bargaining session through a federal mediator. A 1:30 p.m. hearing was set for 77 strikers as the council considered invoking Ohio’s Ferguson Act to discipline striking workers.
