Zoning certificate revoked for Shady Nook recreation plan
The Brunswick Planning Commission revoked the conditional zoning certificate for the Shady Nook subdivision after builders Ryan Homes failed to complete a recreation area before 50 percent of building permits were issued. The subdivision near S Carpenter Road will get a playground basketball courts and a picnic area, with additional recreation space near Regal Avenue.

Medina man charged with escape after failed removal from police
A 23 year old Medina man, Robert Barshc of 533 Bronson St, was charged with escape after attempting to flee the Medina police during intake. He appeared at Medina Municipal Court for arraignment and remains jailed in Medina County.

Medina County Park District receives community service award
The Medina County Park District won a community service award for the Day in the Park program now in its fifth year. Park Director Brent Wood notes the effort addresses elderly needs and plans to broaden year round programs for all ages. The program started in 1974 with bus trips from eight nursing homes, offering lunch, fishing supplies, nature instruction, crafts, and now serves about 80 participants weekly during summer.
