Medina voters rejected Issue 7 on election day preventing the city from joining the Medina County Courthouse plan. City Council will address the topic at a special meeting. the project, which the city invested about $200,000 in design plans, will not proceed this year. Local attorneys Pat Walker and Ralph Jocke led the drive. Bob Finnan.
Brunswick Schools failed for the third time to pass a 10 year 5.5 mill emergency operating levy. The November vote was 12 817 against 12 623 for about 6.9 million annually. If rejected the district faces about 3 million in cuts for 2021 22 including school closures staffing reductions and busing limits.
Medina County records show a 10 percent year to date increase in home sales via realtors, with 1,919 sales by Oct 2 and nearly 1,700 containing three or more bedrooms. The average price is 261,455 and median about 5,000 higher, totaling 501.73 million in sales. Jonathan Delozier.
Pat Geissman, 80, ends a 28 year tenure as Medina County commissioner after losing to Rep. Steve Hambley in November. Elected first in 1992 and reelected through 2016, she notes deep impact from creating the Railroad Safety Task Force and Feeding Medina County while serving as a past president of the County Commissioners Association of Ohio.
