Congress approves stopgap funding as Johnson faces GOP split
The bill, backed by Johnson and Senate GOP leaders, extends funding through March 14 2025 to avert a government shutdown. It preserves current programs, funds Key Bridge rebuilding in Baltimore, and transfers RFK Stadium land to DC for a potential Washington Commanders stadium. It also keeps telehealth for Medicare and limits pharmacy benefit managers profits. Budget pay raises spark GOP debate with a possible 3.8 percent rise, while some lawmakers call the measure a junk sandwich amid broader political pressure.
