Brunswick Extends Moratorium On Recreational Marijuana
Brunswick City Council approved a six month extension of the moratorium on issuing building permits for cultivation processing or retail sale of recreational marijuana. Vice Mayor Nick Hanek said the measure can be lifted sooner with a motion. He noted medical marijuana processing is allowed but warehouses or dispensaries are not. The state legislature could modify rules on sales tax and funding before year end, influencing local plans and whether the city gains net economic benefit from retail marijuana.
