Ball State triumphed 38 28 over Buffalo in Detroit to capture the MAC championship their first since 1996. Dan From wire reports Drew Plitt threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score in the first half as Ball State limited Jaret Patterson to 47 yards on 18 carries before an apparent injury. Patterson returned, but the Cardinals built a 35 21 halftime lead after a late first half sequence including Jimmy Daw forced fumble and Christian Albright 34 yard return for a touchdown. The Bulls had not yielded a MAC crown since 2008 despite the comeback attempt.
