Chappellet winery on Pritchard Hill founded in 1967 by Molly and Donn Chappellet with Rob Mondavi aiding the inaugural 1968 vintage. The hillside pyramid structure and bird logo mark the estate, now led by a second generation after Donn's 2016 death. The 1980 Signature Cabernet helped define the winery's legacy. The estate sits 800 to 1800 feet with 48 blocks on 640 acres, many soils and elevations. The vineyard adopts organic certification since 2012, uses cover crops since the early 1980s, and includes solar power and water recycling projects begun in 2008 and 2011 respectively.
