Medina district reconsiders 7.5 mill emergency levy to fund operations
Medina district officials seek voter support for a 7.5 mill continuing levy on the November ballot to cover day to day operations after earlier attempts failed. The plan follows a 6.5 mill operating levy and 2.83 mill bond initiative and comes amid a precaution status from the state due to a five year forecast. The district reports $2 million in staff reductions and warns that failure could trigger up to $40 million in cuts over years, with phased reductions beginning 2025 26. The Sept 17 board meeting will review the plan, with more details at medinabees.org Page 2037. Officials say they hope for November backing to avoid deeper cuts.
