The Associated Press reports Ohio may start recreational marijuana sales next week as the state plans to issue operation certificates on Tuesday enabling medical dispensaries to sell non medical products. Adults 21 plus may buy up to 2.5 ounces and grow up to six plants per person.
Medina attendees watched local guilds showcase handiwork at the Medina County Fair on Friday. Dana Stein of the Honeybee Quilters described member made quilts and hands on sewing for Alzheimer’s backings. She recalled discovering quilting’s creative potential after visiting the Neil Armstrong Museum. The guild meets Thursdays at Highland Library, and Stein praised every aspect of the group.
Medina County Sheriff's Office detective Dan Cooke rode a bull in the fair chute to raise funds for the Kevin Holler Foundation. He fell off soon after exiting the chute as hundreds cheered, continuing his yearslong involvement with the fair. Holler, a corrections officer, died at 36 following a July 2020 boating accident on Lake Erie.
Tricia Peacey celebrated expanding her Farmers Insurance agency with a ribbon cutting at the Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance grand reopening. A former auto industry worker, she opened the Valley City office in 2019 and now employs three, planning two more as she sells various policies statewide.
The Wad sworth Older Adults Foundation honored five inductees at a Wednesday ceremony. Medina County Office for Older Adults received special recognition for opening Suprema Café. Dan Chafin received induction for senior safety efforts and the Coffee with a Cup program. YMCA leaders accepted honors for senior exercise programs and intergenerational activities.
