Celebration of Polly Lowe's 91st Birthday Donation

The Lowe family and others donate to The Gazette Empty Stocking Fund to honor Polly Lowe and support 800 families in need this holiday season. Contributions aid toys clothing and food through the Salvation Army. The fund started on Thanksgiving and runs through Christmas Eve with daily donor listings.

Man Climbs Into Gastonia Patrol Car to “Have a Good Time”

Gastonia man Jason Tate 39 reportedly climbed into a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria patrol car at Leather and Lace and tried to steal it. He used the police radio during the incident at about 3 a.m. and was booked into Gaston County Jail on resisting an officer, breaking into a vehicle, attempted vehicle larceny and interfering with emergency communication. Tate held a $10,000 bond. He faced prior charges in February for property injury, second degree trespassing and public disturbance.

Coats for Queens warms hearts after Sandy relief

Ashbrook High senior Kelena Mason led a Bethlehem Church drive from Gastonia to ship coats to Queens New York, surpassing a 10 000 coat goal with help from New York partners. The group trained sorted and distributed coats at seven locations while offering listening ears to survivors.
