Coal supply plan eyed to cut costs for Cincinnati
A proposal urges boosting Ohio River and Big Sandy rail links to ship coal from Cadetsburg Kentucky. It argues extended coal fields, stable delivery for ten months, and cheaper rates could reduce Cincinnati manufacturing costs by about 10 cents per bushel or 2 per ton, saving roughly 1.2 million dollars annually. It cites coal quality, vast reserves, and potential rail corridor extensions toward Pittsburgh.

Texas Cattle Plague and Beef Contamination Claims
Dr Clendenin yesterday could not corroborate the Board of Health statement that dairymen sold cattle infected with Texas fever for beef. A report in this morning's Commercial notes dairyman Morefelt lost three cows to the disease and, seeking profit, moved the remaining twenty eight cows to Brighton Stockyards and sold them. The Board of Health is urged to exhaust all efforts to eradicate the disease as families stop eating beef until confidence returns in market safety.
