Cotton arrivals lift Savannah trade in September
Georgia dispatch reports rapid new cotton arrivals at Savannah with 1 023 bales of the current crop in yesterday and about 26 000 pounds sent in this week. Merchants see prospects for a large crop, noting at least one third more cotton than last season and minimal island worm damage. Seed cotton opens at seven to nine cents.

Old Defenders of Baltimore Celebrate North Point Anniversary
The Old Defenders of Baltimore with the Association of Old Defenders of Washington City celebrated the North Point anniversary. They marched from Camden street depot to Monument Square reviewed by Mayor Van Sant, then to Light Street wharf for a steamer trip to the North Point battlefield and dinner. The Washington Light Infantry remained in Baltimore as guests of the Fifth Maryland. Thousands lined the streets as flags flew over the city and ships.

Buffalo Elevators End Season With New Storage Charge
The Buffalo Elevator Association Executive Committee agreed to charge 1.25 cents per bushel including five days storage and 0.25 cents per bushel for each additional five days.
