Gas mains laid on German pike and city council split on avenue plan
Gas mains have been installed from the bridge north to Rock Street and along Blue Rock to Hoffner's corner then Hamilton Die and Spring Grove Avenue back to Millcreek bridge. The season's work is done and mains will be laid on conditional territory next spring. The avenue improvement is postponed as council divides with Brown Clinton in support and Bruckman Fuchs Reichrath opposing. The meeting at Strong's Hall will feature Job Stevenson Jacob Wolf and S. L. Hayden as speakers. Sixteen cattle owned by Tarrant near Mt. Airy died recently, likely from exposure to Texas cattle in the area.
