In Paris at the Hotel de Bristol the Prince and Princess of Wales faced a close call when horses bolted and tipped a carriage as they prepared to depart for the steamer home to England. The Prince sprang clear and escaped serious harm, with the incident causing intense excitement but no lasting injury.

About 1 o'clock this afternoon a fire was discovered in the roof of the residence of Henry E. Spencer at 90 East Third Street. It was extinguished by the city steamer without a general alarm. Patrick Monahan fell from a Martin Street street car yesterday, striking his skull on the pavement and fracturing it. He is in critical condition today.
