CHICAGO July 15 immense crowd greets the French Republicaine Band arriving by seven o'clock yesterday. Procession of French Irish societies and bands escorts the guests to the Continental Hotel. A shed collapse injures several spectators. Zepp Lehman firmlinked deaths and accidents mark days. Turners Hall cornerstone laid with bands and banners as celebrations continue.
Washington July 15 the Board of Fire Commissioners awarded the contract for an extension of the fire alarm telegraph system to Gamewell Co based on a private letter from North City for the Democratic ticket at the county elections.
In Brooklyn on July 15 a lamp explosion at Lawrence Ryan's Thirtieth Street liquor store caused a major fire that destroyed the two story building and stock, with damages around 3500 dollars. Earlier, John and Pat McLaughlin quarrelled over alleged abuse of their mother leading to Pat fatally striking John with a club. Pat was arrested.
Falling barometer with brisk southerly to easterly winds and increasing cloudiness. Areas of rain forecast from Pennsylvania to Lake Erie and the upper lakes, extending to the Northwest. New England and Middle States may see rain. Virginia to southern New England also at risk. South Atlantic States face rain with clearing later Monday. Gulf States expect clearing after possible showers.
Suburban News reports Rev. Mr. Elwell of the P. E. Church departing Dayton for a brief Canada visit. A temperance meeting is slated for Tuesday evening at the Baptist Church with Mr. Haynes of Covington delivering a lecture on the occasion.

In Millcreek township Liberal Republicans met with J F Lakeman presiding and discussed strategy with a two man committee to confer with Democrats. Gas mains work advances under A J Rice along Millcreek streets improving routes to Spring Grove. Harrison and McLean avenues to be well graded once finished.
In Covington the court house demolition starts under Judge Perrin as mayor pro tem. Local fines are issued for drunkenness and assault while the Bridge Company’s debt is corrected to 600000. A Covington resident elopes with a young woman, and cemetery exhumation work on Craig street progresses under Wakefield with public interest. Mayor Baker leaves for a two week eastern tour as Judge Perrin presides in his absence. The Covington Fire Department congratulates foreman Hartley after reelection, with the band playing.
An alarm was creened in from box eight by a miscreant. The party were relieved to learn they had been hoaxed. They returned and did full justice to the good things of the table.

Emerson's Minstrels open at Pike's Opera House tonight led by Billy Emerson. The troupe includes top artists and is expected to draw a crowded house with fans in town. Barnum's Great Show set to open tomorrow afternoon drawing thousands of local spectators.
In Memphais, Tesq., July 15, the grand jury report charges State and County Tax Collector Mr. McLean with being short just over $10,000. A white boy was shot while bathing in the river Saturday night by a black shooter, three shots hitting him to cause instant death. CURRIER'S band plays tonight at the Fifth Street Garden weather permitting.
United States Circuit Court announced Ansel Lawless of Portsmouth Ohio was declared bankrupt Saturday on petition by his creditors.
A coal driver named John Banks, employed by G. W. C. Johnston, delivering coal at the Custom House, slipped on a hoop at 11:30 am and was trampled by a horse. He died from his injuries about half an hour later.
About six o'clock Friday one of Mar met's four horse coal teams ran wild along Sycamore street Hill. The driver was thrown from his seat, a horse fell and was dragged by the others, bruising him. The driver escaped with slight injuries.
At about 8 this morning Mr Stiles, fishing from a boat opposite Mount Hope road in the Twenty first Ward, watched a well dressed man walk into the river and throw himself in, drowning before aid could reach him. The body was recovered and the coroner notified.

A clash involving Mr Si Keck President of the Board of Aldermen and Enquirer reporter Frank Nevins erupted near Lukre's drug store after an apologia for a cartoon. Nevins drew a revolver. Keck assaulted him. Laird joined, strikes landed, police intervened. Nevins and Laird jailed. Keck treated at the drug store. bail set at $20 for Laird.
Geo Walters colored for disorderly conduct and abusing an old colored woman was sent out 30 days. Timothy Sullivan for fighting and disorderly conduct 30 days. Will Kirkpatrick for keeping a vicious dog fined 25 dollars and costs. Lewis Cearns sold baled hay by light weight in market 3 dollars and costs. Frank Vordenbenmann arrested for assaulting Magdalena Tivelhover discharged as witness refused to testify. Lewis Creams charged with receiving 15 dollars from George Fisher under false pretenses discharged after returning money. Joseph and James McNally two boys arrested for destroying an animal cage valued 412 dollars. They were locked up for another week for inquiries. John McNair tried for breaking into Corne wa Lobe place on July 9 then found with skeleton keys and burglars tools and caught by police. Sentenced to sixty days in the Workhouse and fined 300 dollars.

Separately, Hever B McCuivnes of Delphi Indiana won the preparatory department vacancy at Miami University following Prof Loner’s resignation.
