The Labor Reformers accuse A M Puett of overstepping authority and back the New York Conference call for a national ticket nomination in Philadelphia on August 22.
Baltimore August 15 backers of Mace and O Baldwin decide to travel to Philadelphia by 11 P M with their seconds to meet McMullen in the morning for a fight on the Delaware Pennsylvania line. More will depart today as rumors of a clash grow. Mayflower to Portsmouth then West Indies after refitting. Weather shows cooler temperatures after showers.
L A Wallace, a commission merchant, fled to Wisconsin two days ago and will return to answer charges. Irish crowds in Chicago block a Chicago and Atlantic railroad worksite, using bricks and stones. police were repelled, a larger force arrested rioters. Charles Wyndham discusses French band troubles and reveals a new fact about Steiner’s mystery.
The account recounts Wyndham and Steiner visiting St. Caroline's Court after a Sunday concert to audit tickets and receipts. Steiner sought to take about thirty thousand dollars to the South Side, Wyndham objected, and the money stayed in a hotel safe until Steiner withdrew it after Wyndham departed. Wyndham later relinquished his stake in remaining concerts and sought to compensate the band.

Five men stood in the entrance were knocked down and S F Clark was seriously hurt. a nearby young woman was lightly injured. Lightning also damaged vessels and homes in surrounding towns. Milwaukee reports the Chicago and Northwestern railroad will ship 50 thousand bushels by rail to Chicago and 60 thousand by lake to relieve a wheat shortage.
The bulletin notes continued low pressure with southerly and westerly winds bringing threatening weather and occasional rain areas from the lower lakes eastward across the Middle and Eastern States. It describes variable winds on the South Atlantic coast with partly clear weather and falling barometer. Rain and light northerly and easterly winds are forecast on the Gulf, while Minnesota to Michigan and Tennessee see clearing weather with northerly winds.

Two soldiers, James Wilhigh and Allen Cecil, were fined $8 each after a fight at the mayor’s office.

In New Torn dated August 15 the Mace and O Baldwin bout is postponed as Mace arrives this fore noon to begin training. Also, P A Jones a West End grocer was fined this morning in Police Court for selling liquor to a minor.
The first bale of new cotton from Mississippi classed strict middlings sold today on Change for Slcper Ib. to Fairmount Woolen Mills. Tom Averitt, a Bucktown saloon keeper, was arrested for receiving stolen goods after refusing to surrender a pair of shoes claimed by Emma Fisher. The Democratic County Executive Committee elected officers G A Peters, Jackson M Noble, John Coffee, and G V Atkinson, and left Justices of the Peace nominations to the City Executive Committee. Work on Elm street railway crossings progressed with frogs placed and road-bed ready, to be completed by month end, requiring night work on Fifth Seventh and Ninth streets.
Adaline Miller was arraigned for harboring lewd women after William Spencer of Virginia, traveling with several teams to the city, met two young men and the house party at Miller’s establishment. He woke minus $250 and Miller was charged as hearing continued a week. The trial of seven trail boarders also continued. John Conway was fined $5 and costs for disorderly conduct. Peter Schute, a young cigar maker, faced theft charges but released for lack of evidence. W. S. Taylor was fined $10 and costs for selling liquor to minors.
