In De Kas August 2 a brutal murder of Timothy Bowler is described with twelve to fifteen blows from an ax and suspicion falls on his wife though she claims an unknown assailant. Also in Aurora Illinois a boiler explosion at the stone quarry killed Blagg Berthold and hurled him 150 feet, with his son and brother-in-law narrowly escaping.
The Sixth street market stretched from Main to Hamilton and Day ton depot, the largest in a year. Spangenberg of Dustan Spangenberg remains missing since Sunday amid theories of self harm. He was last seen with Aaron McCune during a Saturday night money drawer attempt at the Brighton House. McCune has been arrested, Spangenberg not yet.
Nancy Martin, eight, with no home or friends, sent to House of Refuge. Chas Ferguson fined $5 for carrying concealed weapons in Linwood Park. Stephen Reibel aged sixteen, worker at Bromwell Manufacturing Company in Walnut Street, suffered an epileptic seizure while at a second story window. He fell onto a sharp edge of a garbage barrel, dislocating his shoulder and tearing a deep flesh wound in his right leg. Dr. O E Davis treated him and he was returned home.
At 11 o clock a fire in Mrs. H. H. Lloyds millinery store at 105 Central avenue was put out by occupants using buckets. Around noon a blaze on Findlay street near Freeman was contained without engine help. A small roof fire at Prices house on Montgomery road was extinguished quickly. A roof fire on German street caused alarm 187 but caused no damage.

JOHN DAILY a hotel thief broke into James Earnshaw’s room at the Broadway Hotel stole a coat and a revolver. He was arrested this afternoon and confined at the Third street Station house.
A small fire reported from box 67 shortly after three o'clock this afternoon near Cutter and Court streets was extinguished within moments without the aid of the engines.
