The flour and sugar were turned over to the Red Cross. Hoffman's remarks to a secret service agent have been turned over to the US District Attorney. He had previously denied possessing flour and sugar. Hoarding is punishable under the Lever Food Control Act by a $5000 fine or two years' imprisonment. The local food director secured the removal of the excess supplies. Some local patriots in Litchfield county had shown interest in the case.
