Allies Make Gains on French Front Near Torcy and Vinly

Paris June 7 American troops fighting on the main front gained ground near Torcy Belleau and Bouresches west of Chateau Thierry. North of the Aisne the village Le Port west of Fontenoy was captured by the French and Vinly fell on the Marne northwest of Chateau Thierry. Hill No 204 between the Marne and Rheims was recaptured as the British regained Bligny. By dawn American and French forces advanced toward Veuilly La Hoterie Toreq reaching edges of Bussatres Toreq and took 270 prisoners in the morning action.

Missionary Meeting of Local Methodist Women

The Woman's Missionary Society met at Mrs J S Johnston's home with about twenty in attendance. The discussion centered on Sunday Observer and the program by Mrs J T Kindel. talks by Meldanes Thorne and Moore, and a reading by Mrs Dibble Clarke on the theme The man who died for me. A social service meeting is planned at Mrs Flowers home in two weeks with Mrs Flowers in charge, and Mrs Johnston served cake and lemonade at the close.
