Mrs Shaw Dies at 17 in Valley County
Mrs Mayzie A Shaw died Tuesday morning at 4:30 after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be at Estancia Cemetery with Rev D B Jackson officiating. She was 17, mother of five children, four of whom died in infancy. her sole son died shortly after typhoid fever. The Shaws came from Jack County Texas and settled on a local claim north of town.

Rebuilding of Store Rooms After August Fire
Yesterday morning work began on rebuilding the Ostancia Drug Store rooms damaged by the August 22 fire. The adobe walls remain usable. brick fronts will be added to both front and rear. Robert Mc Bride handles masonry while Richards & Decker lead carpentry for the project. The Bank Building will get a brick front and the frame front will be removed, with no rear extension as initially planned, keeping the original footprint.
