Manzano Day Picnic Set Under Ancient Trees July 19 20

Ancient trees near Manzano host the annual picnic on July 19 and religious services on July 20. Organizers aim to make it a regular town outing with visitors from the valley, while locals highlight the ruins of Cuara and the old Torreca fortress.

Slaying of Pests Goes Merrily On Near Town

A sequence of rabbit drives near town yields large numbers killed or corralled. Last Tuesday near J. J. Smith’s home about 300 rabbits were captured, many killed outside the wire. A second drive added over 100 more, totaling about 500 so far with more hunted last Friday. A third drive is planned today near the Romero homestead as crowds continue the pest control effort.

Fire Destroys Weaver Family Home North of Tow

Yesterday morning a fire consumed the Weaver family's house north of town, total loss with all household effects destroyed. J G Weaver and family were displaced. T J Frank to take charge of the remnant and move the household to the Alamo Hotel temporarily.
