Ill game last Sunday stirs local baseball row

A disputed Eston ia baseball game last Sunday led to friction between Willard and Moriarty players. Reports say the Willard umpire favored his town, provoking protests from Moriarty as officials and players questioned calls and a prior incident with the Belen game in which the Tribune credited the Willard umpire.

Cragg and Marquess Wed After Morning Drive to Wilford

Dick Cragg and Emma Marquess married in a brief Sunday ceremony after securing papers from the probate clerk. Cragg, an old-timer with Santa Fe Central, and Miss Marquess, who worked at the Leader Office, will settle on Cragg’s claim near Willerd where many friends await them.

Bedford returns from Socorro county with a herd of horses he plans to sell to local farmers, aiming to move the lot to Estancia by Saturday.

Presbyterian Ladies Organize Westminster Circle

The Presbyterian Church ladies and others met at Missy Norris's home to form a Westminster Circle. The group aims to study the Bible support missions aid church work and promote Christian social life and charity in the area. Membership open to all interested women.

Rattlesnake Bite Sends Youth to Recovery Care

Dr AL Hazen treated the Estancia Willard area youth after a rattlesnake bite on the foot. The boy was a mile from home when bitten, with a swollen blackened leg. He improved after care and was on the road to recovery.

Fencing Estancia Cemetery Grounds by A A Hine

A. A. Hine who fled a desert claim on forty acres of the Estancia Cemetery grounds southwest of town is erecting a fence this week and plans to sink a well and improve the site. A prior public fencing attempt raised funds but failed. a petition circulates asking Hine to relinquish control so the land may become a public cemetery once Estancia is incorporated.

Boy Bitten by Dog Receives Treatment for Facial Injury

Little Jeanme Minor suffered a disfiguring facial bite when a dog jumped at him as he left the house. Dr. Sunderland dressed and cauterized the wound and the boy is recovering, though his face is badly plastered.

County Bonds Sold Today Secure Par Value Sale

At an adjourned county commissioners session, Current Expense bonds of 5000 dollars and Court House bonds totaling 16000 dollars were sold to J H Causey & Co of Denver at par. A M Bergere of Santa Fe and J S Carcin of this place negotiated the sale amid a wary financial market, with residents pleased at the outcome.

McIntosh Flour Mill Project Under Way

Work begins on the McIntosh a flour mill with Melitoeh Mill & Elevator Co. capitalized at 10000 dollars in 200 shares of 50 dollars each. Machinery bought, engine rated 60 horsepower, foundation to follow water supply well, mill to handle 100 barrels of flour and corn meal. Location near the railroad in McIntosh Estancia Valley, seen as strong for local farmers and wheat prospects.

Chamberlain Averill Receive Albuquerque Marriage License

The Albuquerque Journal reports the issuance of a marriage license in Albuquerque to Arthur Chamberlain aged 46 and Lottie Averill aged 21. Miss Averill, niece of Mrs Merry Averill proprietor of the Valley Hotel Estancia, has many valley friends hoping for a long and successful life as Mrs Chamberlain. Santa Fe Ball Team to Play Estancia on Local Ground

Santa Fe ball team will meet Estancia on the local grounds Sunday with a special Santa Fe Central train from the Capital City arriving before dinner. Return trip departs about 7 30 p m. An expected crowd of at least 300 from the Ancient City will join, supporting the home team in a road game atmosphere.

Planing Mill Move Signals Growth at Romero Lumber

The Romero Lumber Company plans to begin work on a new planing mill once Mr. Romero returns from Las Vegas. J. E. Stanford holds the contract, with Estancia yards stocking over a million feet of native lumber and surfaced material for finishing. The company ships several cars weekly along the Santa Fe Central line, with payroll rising as the mill goes in. Foreman updates include Dr Boyd visiting Estancia, Paul Wade on a ten day fishing vacation, and Rev. W. A. Pratt set to preach at the Methodist Church.

Probate Court Session in Torrance County Monday

A special term of the probate court at Batancia with Judge Jesus Flores presiding granted Andres Peralta as administrator and guardian of Juan de La Lux Peralta. Andres Salas was appointed administrator of Pablo Salas y Sanchez with appraisers Jesus Garcia and Jose Romero. Local Catholics plan to entertain Bishop Pita vel arriving from Santa Fe Tuesday evening with Father Bassett.
