Wheat Harvest Near Estancia Yields 21 Bushels per Acre
The Cochran thresher has been at work west of Estancia this week starting at A. B. McKinley's ranch. Nine acres threshing produced 191 bushels, about 21 bushels per acre. Grain size is good and weight remains strong.

Albuquerque Central Railroad Extension Financed in Boston Bond Sale
A Boston syndicate including A. L. Richmond Jr and the Ferguson Construction Co has bought 1.6 million dollars in Albuquerque Eastern railroad first mortgage bonds. They plan a 65 mile line from Moriarty to Frost, then west to Albuquerque and north to Hagan to access coal deposits. The project aims to reorganize with low debt, about 14 400 dollars per mile, and transfer completion to the New Mexico Central system.

Captain Corbett Dies at Mountainair at 70
Captain Joseph A. Corbett died at his home in Mountainair last Tuesday morning after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Mountainair Chapel conducted by Rev. J. W. Campbell with assistance from Rev. C. C. Bateman and Rev. P. W. Longfellow. He had lived in the Estancia valley two years seeking relief from his illness. He leaves a widow and three children, John W. Corbett and Misses Josephine and Verde, who were at his bedside.

Fire Destroys Estancia Business Block
A morning blaze in Estancia destroyed one block of business houses on the east side of Fifth Street south of the bank, with the bank building and several stores sustaining heavy damage and stock losses. The fire began from a gasoline stove at the bakery, spreading rapidly despite efforts to halt it, while west-side shops were saved by urgent measures. Several workers exhibited courage amid dangerous conditions.
