Estancia company hears plan to drill 2000 feet deep well
At a stockholders meeting in this city last Saturday EB A Mayo of Tularosa NM proposed a rotary drill to depths up to 3000 feet with a contract guaranteeing a 2000 to 9000 foot sink. Costs range from 1920 for 1000 feet to 4610 for 2000 feet plus derrick and four inch casing. About 2900 has been raised. a minimum 4000 is required before starting.

Dance at McIntosh Planned for August 20 Ball

Tall Oats Grown by Estancia Farmer’s Son
Anastacio Torres, living about six miles southwest of Estancia, reports one acre of oats sown by his son as an experiment. The stalks reach five feet nine inches with long heads well filled with grain, a crop to be proud of.

Escapade of Green the Banker Leads to Wild Hunt
On the morning of the seventh, A J Green rode to hunt coyotes before breakfast and released his horse to watch hounds. Mrs Green, fearing an accident, formed a search party to fetch the doctor. Green hid in a cornfield and returned home after the rescue party passed, still having the coyote scalp.

S W Hightower visited Estancia from his ranch southwest of town with a display of garden produce for city folk including unusually large potatoes weighing over a pound each.
