Strange animal sighting reported near Ditler area
A three foot long tawny creature with short satin fur, black snubbed tail, and erect head was seen on a highway about 23 miles north of Ditler by Emil Krebs and others. It possibly resembled a mountain lion or puma and left unusual tracks near the Clarence Steffen farm area. Residents north of Steele City report screams and signs of a strange animal nearby.

The MethDist church held its monthly meeting in the basement with good attendance. Devotionals were led by Mrs Theodore Henrichs and five cradles were honored for the fifth anniversary. The society planned an annual bazaar and urged members to submit recipes for a cook book. Guests included Rev Waters and family and others. Obituary of Matilde Spehr Recalled as Devout Diaconate Worker
Matilde Spehr born 1877 in Schleswig Holstein is remembered for devout diaconal work in Germany before migrating to the United States in 1912. She married Pastor Paul Spehr in 1913 at Hastings Nebraska and raised three children while enduring years of illness. Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church after a long period of suffering, with numerous relatives and church members attending.

Pfc. Arnold Lottman received his army discharge on Thursday September 20 at Brigham City Utah where he had been hospitalized. He arrived home at Steele City where his wife resides after stopping in Sidney Nebraska to visit his baby brother Carl Braasch who lives with his uncle Henry. Carl is six foot three inches and a high school sophomore.

Diller High School juniors ordered class rings from the Josten Company as they expect delivery before Christmas. Freshmen and new students attended initiation activities on September 21 including a parade and a kittenball game versus Odell with Odell 10, Diller 0.
