Elmer James, section foreman of the St. Joe and G I railroad at Steele City, suffered multiple rib fractures in a derailment in the yards there last week. Weather kept attendance small at the Wiemer Bros and Malchow hog sale in Fairbury Monday and the sale was halted after a few hogs sold at about 25 dollars each.

Chicago professor visits Nebraska relatives

Hog truck overturns before Wiemers sale near Fairbury
Henry Wiemers and James Weddle lost control of their truck on a slippery road and tipped into a ditch while transporting hogs for Wiemers Bros. Malchow. The steering shaft broke but no one was hurt and all hogs were recovered and moved to the sales pavilion for the planned sale.

Funeral for Lanham resident Mrs Eden
Mrs Herman Peters and her son Howard attended the funeral of Mrs Wm Eden in Lanham. Mrs Eden, 58, longtime Lanham resident, died after gall stone surgery in a Beatrice hospital. Survived by husband and six children.

N S C A Regular Meeting Features Music Program
After a two month recess the N S C A met at Mrs. Wm Robertson’s home on Wednesday evening September 10. The program included vocal and violin solos, a piano solo by Merideth, and a piano duet by the hostess and her daughter. A dainty luncheon followed the business session. Honor guests were Mesdames Pengelly and Tucker and Miss Lela Robertson. Mrs N Robertson invited members to meet again in two weeks and share recipes.
