Mann Sentenced in Fairbury District Court for Firearm Offense
In Fairbury district court Ira Mann who pled guilty to firing his own home was sentenced by Judge Raper to four years in the state penitentiary on his plea. He was given thirty days to arrange his business affairs before being taken to Lincoln. Charles Height, a printer, was given ten days at hard labor on the charge of sodomy after also pleading guilty.

Class of 1918 Diller High to Reopen Vigil Box
Members of the 1918 Diller High School class and families held a reunion near Steele City to bury a vigil box on May 24 1918. After a picnic a search for the box led to a wild commotion as the banner was unearthed and brought to Ethel May Woods home to be mounted at Shutt's drug store. The group plans a reunion picnic at the same site on May 24 1928.

Indian John Dearinger Dies Near Fact At 92
John Dearinger known as Indian John died at his home south of Fact in Clay county on Wednesday afternoon August 27 at age 92 years six months. A longtime settler he claimed Native identity though some said he was white raised by the Indiana. He learned remedies from a medicine man and was famed for cures, charging little and never turning away a meal. He never married but helped others, valued honesty, and was a devout Latter Day Saints member. Funeral services were held at his residence and burial in the Willow Wild cemetery near Fact.
