First Lieut Leuie Sanman of Camp Dix and his Omaha brother Jerden visited their parents near Diller after a furlough. He hopes for Oct 1 discharge and to resume medicine in New York City. A fire near Diller destroyed Sam Woods barn and sheds with 50 to 60 tons of alfalfa and hundreds of bushels of grain. hogs perished and the home narrowly escaped. Woods estimates losses at 5,000 to 6,000 dollars, with partial insurance.
