Former Dillerites Visit at Scott Miller Home
Ten days of hospitality at the Scott Miller Sr. residence in Crete Nebraska feature Rev. Charles Waggoner has returned home from Beatrice after hospitalization. A polio scare originating in Marysville Kansas that led to the Diller picnic cancellation has ended with no new cases reported.

Max Braasch seaman first class has returned home after an honorable medical discharge on August 12. Enlisted in May 1942, he trained at Great Lakes, served on a famed battleship with 2600 men, and guarded the Normandie before serving in the South Pacific near Guadalcanal and New Caledonia. He earned two major engagements stars, witnessed visits by Admiral Halsey, Joe E. Brown, and Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, and brings back souvenirs with family links to Lincoln.

Injured Shipyard Worker John Rahman Faces Long Hospital Stay
John Rahman employed at a south San Francisco shipyard suffered a fractured hip and pelvis when a metal plate fell during a fitting task. He dodged the plate but was struck, and his injuries will require lengthy hospitalization for proper healing. His condition is reported by his family as not acutely painful though he remains hospitalized. Dr. Ellis continues to need a cane for a prior foot injury.
