Farmers warned to stop hunting on Fonta farm at Paul Stance

J W Fonta’s 160 acre property sold last Saturday. J A Price sold the Fonta farm to G C Blauser at 90 dollars per acre. An artesian well was bored north of Fairbury. water rises two feet above ground at eighty feet depth. The plan for selecting seats for the next entertainment course is deferred due to busy week. The RACKET moves to a new building two doors south of the old stand and welcomes callers with new goods and competitive prices.

Fall stock sale on buggies wagons and cream separators

Beatrice Express notes a fall stock sale to make room for new goods. Buggies wagons and cream separators offered at greatly reduced prices, with stock to clear by September. Second hand buggies also on bargain list. Prof George Williamson and wife visiting Beatrice residents, heading to Tekamah Neb for school duties this year. Williamson family have ties to Michigan and Gage county.

Railroad bans smoking by employees

The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad announces that any employee found smoking will be dismissed. They state the cigarette fiend cannot perform duties as satisfactorily as non smokers, a stance seen as poor encouragement for workers.

Bicycle laws meet motocycle mishap in village incident

The youth Billy Tinetman rode a motorcycle on the sidewalk violating village rules. A small dog belonging to Arthur Treick darted onto the walk, was struck by the bike, and Billy was thrown about twenty feet into the street. He wonders what would have happened if the dog were larger.
