Rat Campaign Targets Jefferson County Rats Friday Night
Jefferson County residents join a statewide rat control drive sponsored by the University of Nebraska Agriculture Extension Service. County Agent Frank Fiyan directs the effort with Governor Griswold’s approval to curb stored grain losses and support the Food for Defense drive. The plan uses red squill poison costing 50 to 76 cents per treatment for farm rat runs.

Homecoming Sunday at Methodists Church
The Methodists hold their annual homecoming next Sunday with Sunday School and forenoon church. Mrs. Innis will deliver the morning sermon. A basket dinner will be served. At two o clock an open remarks meeting for the old timers. No evening service.
Diller School Night School Highlights Education Week
Diller schools mark Education Week from November 9 to 15 with a Monday night night school open house featuring three class periods, student recitations, a miscel aneous program, and a school band. A one act play at Daykin on November 14 shifts the week schedule. The basketball team, 38 players strong, opens the season against Plymouth on November 21 at Diller.

Mrs. Jennie Line Dies After Long Illness in Diller
Mrs. Jennie Line died Sunday with family present at her home near Diller Nebraska. Born Jeanie Lindsey March 25 1867 in Plainfield Pennsylvania she moved with family to Nebraska at age 13 and later married William Crothers Line in 1882. She leaves six children eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services were held at the home and Congregational church with interment at Prairie Home cemetery.

S Park Koons, Lincoln Musician and Former War Department Worker
S Park Koons born Plainfield Pennsylvania June 22 1865 died Lincoln October 11 1941 aged 76 years 3 months 19 days. He lived near Diller with family before 1882 when his father Alex Koons became postmaster. He worked as bookkeeper at the State Hospital Lincoln then in Washington DC War Department in 1918. He returned to music teaching and church organ work until illness. Interment in Wyuka cemetery.

Hutchinson Brother Dies at Bucklin Home
W L Hutchinson of Bucklin Missouri died at his home Friday morning after a period of poor health. He had visited Diller twice, first about 45 years ago then again around forty years ago to attend Hutchinsons' wedding, and had heard of the Bucklin death from his Iowa-born brother.
