A marriage license was issued last week in Marysville Kansas for Ira Wymore age 25 from Wymore and Dorothy Hiatt age 22 from Diller. Curtis Gear a former Diller resident has worked as wire chief for Lincoln Telephone Company at Fairbury for twenty one years.
Clarence Engelman and Jake Lyttman of near Diller were drawn to serve on the jury for the November 1 term of court. Douglas Harris, little son of Rev. and Mrs. R. M. Harris of Falls City, has been visiting for several weeks at the home of Dr. and Mrs. 5. B. Viers and family.
The Womans Club of Diller announces its next meeting moved to Tuesday evening October 24 at Mrs. W. E. Andersons home. Leader Mrs. C H Cully will present Report of Worlds Fair. Also notes H A Bell family auto trip reports and a magazine subscription price reduction offered with the Record.
Geo Sasse and Orville Richard son were Rockport callers Sunday. One or two light frosts have occurred but up to date no ice has formed in this week of the woods so far. Mr and Mrs John Carico returned the latter part of last week from a week's visit with relatives and friends at Falls City.
City Marshal Chasieen returned Tuesday from Odell hospital after an operation and expects to resume his duties soon.
A son was born Wednesday October 11 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha to Rev and Mrs R M Harris. Rev Harris formerly served as pastor of the Methodist church at Diller and now resides in Falls City.
Mr and Mrs Harold R Hutchinson of Omaha visited his parents Mr and Mrs S C Hutchinson. They near completion of a new home at 670 N 57th Ave and expect to occupy it about Nov 15.
A large pelican weighing 1 pounds and spanning 7 feet 7 inches from wing tip to tip was shot near Adams in Gage county last week. A biological survey tag on one leg led to notification of the department.
Mr and Mrs Emil Tarnow and daughter Elsie from Steele City and Mr and Mrs Carl Tarnow of Omaha were Sunday guests of their daughter and sister Mrs Francis Clark and husband. Carl Tarnow also visited Hubbell. They returned to Omaha Tuesday.
The notice urges readers to place ads in the paper to move money between people. It suggests selling farm animals or idle machinery to meet needs and support the paper during a low mood, claiming mutual benefit for sellers and the publication.
About 90 people attended the Get-Acquainted Social at the Methodist church parlors last Friday evening. Rev. Robert E. Drew and the Public School teachers were honored guests with Miss Maxine Nelson of Beatrice visiting. The gathering featured Welcome remarks, introductions, Get-Acquainted songs, games, and refreshments as attendees enjoyed an informal, pleasant evening.
Eleanor Diehl writes of a eleven day business journey with husband W C Steffensmeyer through Western Nebraska and Eastern Colorado. She visited the Dunns Furgesons and Hales at Sterling and enjoyed a turkey dinner with all trimmings. Wilma Dunn wed in August. They report road work and detours, fine weather, and a striped cat incident. The Dunns and Hales send regards to friends in Diller.
Mrs. S. M. Hughes had visited her daughters at Lincoln and Hebron for several days and returned to her home on Sunday.
Marvin Nickeson, son of Mr and Mrs John Nickeson of the Ellis neighborhood, sustained a broken leg after being knocked down and stepped on by a cow during milking last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wiemers, Mr. George Renz, Paul and Clarence Renz left yesterday for Denver after receiving a message Tuesday of the death of Mrs. Chas Renz, the wife of their son and brother.
Dr and Mrs Wm Weigel and daughters Beverly and Phyllis from Lincoln visit Diller and see Gene Weigel who recently had surgery in Lincoln General Hospital and is recuperating at home. They also call on her father John Hilder and other local relatives during the stay.
Visiting lodge members from Steele City Odell and Naomi Chapter Diller attended a district Eastern Star meeting in Wymore Tuesday evening. Mary Farnham Worthy Grand Matron and William B. Warner Worthy Grand Patron were present.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grene and family, Mr. and Mrs Frank Grene and family, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Richards and family, and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Nippert with relatives gathered Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Grene in Davenport.
Mrs. R. W. Green and Mr. Frank Cully entertained the ladies quartet and their families at a Sunday dinner at their home. Town guests included Mrs. C. L. Tristman of Tobias and Miss Esther Gretzinger of Fairbury.
