Highway Engineers Map Five Miles Of South Town Route

Engineers and surveyors from the state road department occupy Sam Hutchinson’s office to lay out detail work for five miles of highway south of town. Concrete mixing equipment is on site, and culvert work is set to begin this week. Grading equipment is due to start next week.

Hay yields soar on Nebraska farms this season

The Clyde M. Thaber farm north of Diller reports a 74 acre hay field producing over 4500 bales totaling more than 190 tons. A separate 20 acre field cut in June and again in September yielded 58 tons, reflecting an exceptionally large Nebraska hay crop.

Death of Charles Sparks in Bethany Missouri

Charles Sparks died at his home in Bethany Missouri after a long illness. He was father to Mrs James Hayes and Mrs Herbert Barber and Mrs Cook of near Blue Springs. Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Odell and interment was in Odell cemetery. The Odd Fellows conducted the grave service and pallbearers. The Sparks had recently sold their property to make a new home.
