Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brash and children were Sunday dinner guests of Dick Ommen and family in Harbine. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Logan and family and her mother Mrs. A. T. Watson visited Sunday with Diller friends and relatives.
Mr and Mrs C B Ashcraft hosted Mrs J W Wonderly of Vancouver Washington this week. Wonderly is the Ashcrafts sister. Also noted is Mrs M J Dowlings with the Raymonds of Lincoln and sister Marguerite Green, a Fremont teacher, visiting Friday night and Saturday morning. E E Shultz of Steele City campaigned for Jefferson county representative on the Republican ticket and placed his announcements in the Record.
The first P T A meeting will be held at the school house Monday evening October 8. It will be a get acquainted party for parents and teachers with peppy entertainment and eats. Mrs. Scott Miller presides.
A public sale is planned at the Colman Hotel on Saturday October 6. Items to be sold include household goods as the owner plans to move from Diller soon.

Miss Lillian B Stuff RN was summoned Sunday to tend to Mr Geo Rahman who is bedridden. Wheat held at one dollar per bushel as elevators load grain. R W Green had a fresh coat of paint on the front of his box ball alley building this week.

Judge W J Moss of Fairbury campaigned in Diller on Tuesday as a non partisan candidate for re election as district judge of Gage and Jefferson counties. Precinct voters are urged to return him for a second term.
Mayborn attended the Omaha sale Wednesday and purchased 120 white face cattle for feeders at Beat rice Harbine and Diller. Prices ranged from $10.00 to $10.65 per hundred, described as an exceptionally good buy.
Herbert Beckwith sold about four acres of land adjoining town to Vester Carmichael for 561 dollars 8 cents. Carmichael already owned adjacent land and this addition will create a desirable tract for future building.
At a far meeting of the Commercia club Monday evening the chairman announced his appointment of the committee to solicit funds for traveling three blocks of the city streets. John Clausson and E. L. Loock were named as such committee, and a road committee consisting of S C. Hutchinson, S.C. Moser and K. Shutt.
Rev Velte, the new Methodist minister, will preach both morning and evening next Sunday October 7. His car load of household goods, including about a hundred bushels of apples for sale, is expected to arrive here next Tuesday.
A reception is planned for Wednesday evening October 10 at 7 o clock in the church basement to honor Rev Velta and his daughter Miss Marguerite. Public school teachers are invited as guests along with the entire church membership to attend and bring baskets of provisions for the dinner at 7 o clock. No soliciting will be done. Pearly Place buys a new Oldsmobile sedan. The corn crop outlook is excellent. Mr and Mrs C E Carr from Fairbury visited relatives on Sunday. Mr and Mrs Ira Anderson visited Kansas City with Archie. B L Yost advertises a household goods sale at Colman Corner Saturday at 8 pm. Oliver Diehl Joe Madlaecak and Lewis Holt of Omaha and Eleanor Diehl of Lincoln were Sunday dinner guests at Dr O C Diehl.
Mr and Mrs Ira Anderson and Miss Della Behrends accompanied by Archie and Marvin Anderson returned Monday from a two week visit at the home of Mr and Mrs Ed Schnuelle in Dix Nebraska.
The Republican primary for Pleasant precinct will be held this Friday evening at the city hall to place in nomination candidates for Assessor Justice of the Peace Constable and four Road Overseers.
City officials push street and alley ditch work with Dr. Fox and Vester Carmichael guiding a grader under Street Commissioner E. E. Benne oversight. Mr and Mrs Herman Peters visited Sprague last Sunday to hear Rev E E Pengelly preach morning and evening. Pengelly affiliated with Wy church at Diller.
Mrs Elizabeth Fouts found a rattlesnake with five rattles and a button on her doorstep after returning from a neighbor visit. A passing drayman killed the snake on the scene.
Mrs Wolken hosts a large surprise party at her home on Sept 26 with many friends and relatives. Prizes were awarded to several attendees and a angel food cake shared by Bert Bell and others. Guests included Mr and Mrs F E Wolken and numerous families and neighbors.
Mr and Mrs Walter Stewart and their children from Bearice called on Mr and Mrs C B Ashcraft Sunday afternoon and evening.
The J. N. C. club met at Mrs. Guy Clancy's home on Wednesday afternoon. Ten members five visitors and six children attended. After business the group enjoyed refreshments and a new member joined. The next meeting will be hosted by Mrs Geo Champ on Oct 17.
The Woman's Club meets October 10 at 2 30 PM with hostesses Mrs Harry Thompson and Mrs I R Andrews leading. A discussion on voting rights and the four year nominating method for the U S presidency is included along with party platform comparisons and presidential candidate reviews. A county convention in Steele City is announced for October 1 with a 50 cent fried chicken dinner served by the Presbyterian church ladies aid.
Abe Watson has been piloting a new Pontiac coach for the past two or three weeks, according to local reports. The vehicle stands out for its modern styling and improved performance in daily use.
About 500 relatives and neighbors attended the funeral for Laura Bures nineteen year old daughter of Mr and Mrs John Bures farmers west of Odell. She died after years with tuberculosis of the bones affecting her spine. The service at the family home was in English and Bohemian. Burial was in Odell cemetery beside her sister Mrs Anna Novotny. Surviving are her father mother and four brothers.
