E F Habicht and C E Waggoner with their families toured to Camp Funat in Habicht's new Chalmery Sedan. They traveled a circuitous 285 miles visiting several towns and returned home just before midnight.
Mrs Clint Tristman and her mother Mrs John Gretzinger traveled from Hildreth to Chester on Tuesday to help relocate and arrange their new home after visiting here with relatives since Sunday.
Bonds speak louder than words at No. 322 draft event in Washington. A Diller market car sells pears at 2.25 per bushel. Mr and Mrs H A Bell rejoice at their son Benford arriving overseas. Items for sale include a library table and a square stand. Dr C C Diehl and others travel to North Platte Nebraska to visit relatives. Diller Red Cross collects fruit pits and nut shells for gas masks. Prof Domier to speak on Christianity and War at the Christian church.
Marie Stotts came home Saturday from Kansas City where she has a clerical position for a visit with her parents Mr and Mrs A D Stott and went Monday to have her tonsils removed at a Beatrice hospital accompanied by Mrs Mary Miller returning that evening.
Republican Congressional candidate M. O. McLaughlin plans an October 4 1918 automobile tour of the county visiting all towns including Diller from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. He aims to meet voters personally and will be joined by the Harmonic Male Quartet of York Nebraska to perform patriotic songs.
The Standard Bearers of the M. F. church present an Friday evening event on Oct 11 to raise funds for war orphans garments. Admission 10 and 20 cents. Concert by orchestra solos quartets and choruses followed by a patriotic drill by ten boys and ten girls and a play titled Sewing for the Heathen.
Jas Weddle takes a post at Green Bro's restaurant. A car load of oats sold Tuesday for 76 cents per bushel. A. D. Stotts sold Missouri apples this week from two to three fifty per bushel. Mrs. Belle Woods broke her right arm Monday at her home near Diller. Liberty Bonds urged for purchase without prompt.
Joe Hiatt advertises for sale a Dempster one horse wheat drill and a Thomas press drill. Twin girls were born Wednesday Oct 2 to Mr and Mrs Ed Dushan, living two miles east and four miles north of Diller. Mrs E Weigel was taken to Beatrice Lutheran hospital to treat an infected toe and is progressing well.
A call donated by Will Frisbie to the Red Cross will be sold on the streets of Diller at 4 o clock Saturday afternoon. Other donated articles will be sold at the same time.
E. L. Loock and his wife and daughter Charlotte arrived home last Friday from an automobile trip to Percia Indiana. They were joined by Mr. A. Barnwalls who is visiting with the Pattons and other relatives and old acquaintances.

The lecture America and What America Means to Me was delivered Wednesday in the opera house by Dr. Fletcher. A large and appreciative audience attended the first of four entertainments for the winter season under the Diller Lyceum Club.
Jefferson county fixed Fourth Liberty Loan quota at 728250 with Pleasant precinct set at 50000. Residents urged to buy quickly, tying local effort to supporting the war, with subscriptions to be taken Monday Oct 9 at the Diller city hall. A grievance committee will hear complaints on allotments.
Mrs B F Senior and her daughter Mrs J D Fanders plus son Theodore Senior travel to Ash ton Idaho to visit their sons and brothers Rudolph and Ben Senior. The journey begins Sunday with family reunion plans in the Ada area.
The county has graded the road from Elfis to the Diller cemetery with one mile east of the cemetery yet to be completed. Commissioner Yeakle pledged to grade from that point into Diller. Curtis Geer, a Lincoln Telephone linesman, fell from a pole after contacting a charged electric lead. He suffered a broken leg a fractured skull and possible fatal internal injuries. He was taken to a Lincoln hospital for observation after bystanders shut off the current.

The Diller Home Guards acted as military escorts at Fairbury last Sunday for the funeral of Harold Hare. Hare died at a naval training station near Chicago of pneumonia after contracting Spanish influenza.
