Local Notes and Births In Harbinge Area

High school play tonight. A D Colman returned Tuesday from a business trip to Lincoln. Rev C S Sloan Baptist minister at Harbinge has resigned. A nine pound girl born to Mr and Mrs Jo fan Fanders on the 26th. Finstman and his mother Mrs A L Timstman were Beatrice visitors. Special low price on wagons now on hand. J D Fanders Mrs Catlett and Miss Carle Taylor visited Belvidere Nebraska for Thanksgiving. Presbyterian ladies raised about 45 dollars at their buffet luncheon and apron sale in the city hall Saturday evening.

The Sparklers embroidery club met for several pleasant hours with Miss Helen. The gathering took place Wednesday evening with peanut sandwiches fruit salad pickles and coffee served.

Thanksgiving Day Church Services and Closings

Yesterday marked Thanksgiving with union services at 10 AM in the M. E. church followed by a dinner in the basement. Banks and the post office were closed and no rural mail delivery occurred.

Book club outing and plans for travels with husbands

Tuesday evening the Hartzells hosted a women’s book club. The group explored various countries and their products before deciding to take a trip by air. They returned to find their husbands preparing for journeys to the cities and people, and urged them to stay behind.

Cattle Dealer Expands Herd After Omaha Market Trip

F Hartzell returned Friday from the Omaha market with three carloads of cattle totaling 118 head for his feed yards. This brings his herd to over 200 head, with plans to add another 100 head after the holidays.

Louie Hansen Heads to Southern California for Winter Work

Louie Hansen sails for southern California to spend the winter months and possibly longer. He is a devoted painter who, with partners Chas Hansen and James Willer, has produced artistic interior decorations in several of Diller's finest homes and business properties.

Dressmaking at Calman Hotel and Local Meeting Notes

To the people of Diller and vicinity a dressmaking and sewing service is offered at the Calman hotel with fast turnaround and satisfaction guaranteed. The regular meeting of the L. S. C. was held at the Blauser home with a musical recital by Lawernce and Irene Blauger and seasonal refreshments served.

Bond Election Call Sparks Village Vote on Waterworks

A Friday city hall meeting led to a plan for a special election to issue bonds to finish the waterworks system. The council later reduced the request to 5000 dollars and set December 23 for a village wide vote from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Official notice appears elsewhere in this paper.

Cars carried Odell banners while the band played as advertising material was handed out and greetings exchanged. Funeral Rites For Local Resident Martin Frerichs

Martin Frerichs a respected Sarsste died Tuesday night November 19 1912 near Diller Nebraska aged 60 years six months and eighteen days after illness of typhus and lung disease. Born March 1 1852 in Letzdorf Germany he came to the United States in 1882 and settled in Jefferson County. He married Aleid De Fries in 1889 producing six children and after his first wife’s death wed Katharina Seggerman November 22 1911. He leaves a wife six children and many relatives. Funeral services were held at his home and St Paul’s in Prairie Home cemetery.
