Diller Depot Remodel Brings Modernized Two Story Reduction

Burlington crew began remodeling the historic Diller depot reducing the second story and a 16 foot western addition. The building will become a bungalow style structure, more compact and easier to heat. The change aims to improve storage efficiency and curb future property losses while keeping residents satisfied with the updated landmark.

Jefferson County 4H Achievement Meeting Set for Saturday

The 4H Clubs of Jefferson County prepare an Achievement Meeting on Saturday evening November 20 at the American Legion Hall Fairbury to honor members with completed projects. Ivan Riley will give the welcome Richard Steffen of Diller will respond Ernest J Leonard chairs the 4H Club Committee with 150 attendees expected. Stores Close The following stores will be closed Thanksgiving Day all day. Beginning December 1 we will be closed on Wednesday evenings to save fuel and lights. Pfc Ray Renz of Camp Rob erts California spent a 15 day furlough visiting family. Beatrice visit included his aunt and uncle Mr and Mrs Paul Renz. First Class signalman and Mrs Robert Patton and their young daughter left by train Sunday to return to New York City.
