Local items report a $10,000 swindle of a Dewitt farmer and a marriage announcement for Max Merrell and Hazel Poland at the bride's parent home in Junction City Kansas on December 24. Also notes postal rate changes and minor Hallowe en observations at the schoolhouse door.
Pat Shea met friends from Fairbury on Tuesday. Mrs J Smith Diller rode Burlington to Lincoln to visit relatives. Mr and Mrs L M Cavett and Mrs Frank T Pearce toured Beatrice in Mr Cavett’s ear yesterday. Mrs H S Armetead returned to Tecumseh after visiting Diller friends. A village literary society will form during tonight’s school program. Grace Myers and Averil Fouts, Diller residents at State University Lincoln, spent the weekend at home.
Mrs Warthen came back Saturday from Washington where she spent a week visiting her son C. E. Warthen.

Tuesday evening the sophomore class of Diller High School entertained at Jes Clark home. Witches greeted attendees stationed around the room and hosted a witches lunch, a Chamber of Horrors tour, fortune telling, and parlor games. A four course luncheon followed with toasts read by all, celebrating a successful event. The class was chaperoned by Miss Loper.
Christian Our' Bible school reports strong engagement and calls for one month of effort to exceed 100 attendees next Sunday. Last Lord's Day 73 attended with 86 on time. members are urged to bring a friend and contribute to the contest scoring system for presence, punctuality, studied lesson, and offerings.
Four sides compete for the largest miles in the journey to Berlin. The winner will be decided next Sunday evening with punctual attendance urged. The pastor expects to fill the Sunday morning appointment.
