Passing of Albert Koepff Editor of Daykin Herald

Albert Koepff 55 died at Lincoln veteran hospital Tuesday night. He worked with his brother L J Koepff Plymouth in printing and spent years in Beatrice Daily Sun staff and mechanical department. Surviving are a half sister Mrs Mionie Overman Lincoln and Harry Zimmerman Beatrice. Services Friday at 2 p m Centenary Methodist with Rev Clair C Hoyt and Evergreen Home cemetery burial. American Legion Fairbury to conduct graveside rites.

DeShazer Sentenced for Car Thefts and Burglary

Leroy DeShazer received a three to six year sentence on each of three charges for stealing two cars in Lincoln and Diller and for breaking and entering the Orlo Geer filling station in Diller. District Judge Clayde B Ellis ordered the sentences to run concurrently. He was moved from Jefferson county jail to the state penitentiary in Lincoln last Thursday by Deputy Sheriff Frank Koocke.

Waiting Reassignment at Hot Springs Redistribution Station

Private John Behrends from Diller Route 1 is awaiting reassignment at the Army Redistribution Station in Hot Springs Arkansas. He served 38 months in the Southwest Pacific and returned last April on furlough, with less than two weeks in Hot Springs for medical exams and repatriation procedures before resuming active duty duties. The station offers medical and dental care, records checks, and recreation under the 8th Service Command as one of five such setups nationwide.

School district 89 two miles south of Diller closed its term Sunday as patrons and Miss Evers gathered with baskets for a picnic. In the afternoon ice cream cake and cookies were served. This was Miss Evers fourth term as teacher and all wished her well in future activities.

W S C S Members Meet for Quilting and Recitals

Eighteen members and three guests of the W S C S of the Methodist Church met in the church basement. Vocal and piano solos by Betty Eick Darlene Novotny and Beverly Hays were enjoyed.
