Daily Vacation School starts Monday June 1 at 8 30 AM. Pre school and primary meet at Congregational church, fourth grade and up at Methodist church. Bring pencils, primary and junior bring scissors. A small fee 10 cents per pupil, 25 cents for three or more children. School runs 8 30 to 11 30 with emphasis on punctual attendance.
Mrs Virge Jeffries and her brother Henry Wright visited the H A Bell home. Jeffries planned to leave Monday May 25 for the National 4 H Club Camp in Washington as a delegate from her division and expected to be away 3 or 4 weeks.
A newborn boy arrived May 19 to Mr and Mrs Ross Cole. The infant weighs nine pounds and is the youngest child of Mrs Cote, daughter of Mr and Mrs Eugene Diller. Carrie Sparks, grandmother, visited Fairbury to meet the newcomer.
All ladies interested in making wreaths for decorating soldiers graves Decoration Day are requested to meet at the city hall Friday afternoon at two o'clock. Little girls who wish to help strew flowers on the graves will meet Saturday afternoon at the City Hall at 2 o'clock. Bring your baskets.
Miss Madeline Henrichs of Fairbury will spend the summer with her sister Helen in California. She left Fairbury early last Sunday morning by automobile in company with Mr and Mrs B O Wysong of that place for Los Angeles. Her father Edward Henrichs is located in that city.
Local authorities have erected a new cement culvert at the alley crossing west of the Methodist church. They also repair the curb and sidewalk in front of Box's Cafe where the pavement broke this spring due to a frozen water drain underneath.
In Steele City voters approve a proposition by 24 to 4 to buy the Improvement Company hall for public gatherings and community use.
The village council decided to resurface Diller streets with a new gravel coat. Several hundred yards of gravel were ordered this week.
The Fairbury Legionairs announce a three day jamboree and street carnival at the county seat from Wednesday to Friday June 3 4 and 5. The event promises games food and community entertainment for residents and visitors.
As the Record goes to press this week the graveling of the highway north of town is drawing to a close, with less than a mile left to finish.
A neighbor says Walter Kremme traded his 1926 T model Ford for a Plymouth automobile, changing his vehicle status and prompting local interest in the swap.
J H Mardin of Otto was recently elected superintendent of the Daykin schools.
Mrs. M O Bennett 31, wife of a blind musician, gave birth to twins and doctors expect a third child within a week. Dr R K Reynolds notes the third baby’s heartbeat via stethoscope. The couple, married September 22 1933 at a Fairbury rodeo, live on the city outskirts with Bennett’s blind pension.
The three community churches cooperate to sponsor Sunday evening religious services in the park. The first service begins Sunday evening June 7. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Mr and Mrs Wm Behrends announce a grandson born to their daughter and son in law Mr and Mrs Marvin Anderson of Kansas City Kansas. The Behrends party left Friday for Kansas City to meet the new arrival accompanied by Roe Sparks and John Henrichs returning Monday night. Mother and baby are reported fine with Miss Bertha remaining in Kansas City to assist at her sister's home.
Mrs Elizabeth Star Hughes and son Richard with Mrs Mattie Clark and Miss Betty Jean Hurst travel from Fairbury via Rock Island to Cedar Falls Iowa. Elizabeth visits her parents Mr and Mrs Fred Starr while Richard plans ten weeks with his grandparents. Clark and Hurst are joining relatives in Waverly where men work painting for Prudential Insurance Co.
A small team from a wee cee and fous e mes searches for wild barberry in Eins prétinct, Gage county, now moving to Pleasant precinct with possible Rock Creek follow up. No barberry found on the last report. Harley Clark Roy Casper LaForrest Fasnacht and James Pickard assist.
Local service spot for Diller Nebraska advertises dry cleaning by Geer Bros at a 1 gallon containers and a phone contact in 66. The copy emphasizes stain free care for the most delicate fabrics and notes the service station Geer Bros in Diller.

Plans are made for the Class of 1931 D H S reunion five years after graduation. Twenty members are listed including Mabel Sparks Jennie Long Irwin Shutt Bethel Green Gorr Harold Nickeson Max Hill and others. All are expected to attend except Mr Fahrenwald of Powell Wyoming. The high school faculty are A J Nelson Ada Geer V Kreiger J Lutz and Mr Rasp.
A ceremony at the Abe line Methodist parsonage Kansas united Miss Margaret Logan of near Diller and Mr Raymond Nixon of Fairfield Nebraska. Rev Taylor of Adeline officiated. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs V T Logan, trained as a teacher and taught locally. The groom, a Nebraska State University graduate, formerly county 4 H agent and now a traveling salesman, will reside in Fairbury.
Miss Myra A Cramb 48 a Fairbury High School teacher for seventeen years died of heart failure early Monday. She was sister of W F and L K Cramb of Fairbury. Funeral services held at the Fairbury Methodist church Thursday at 10 in the morning with Rev Huntington officiating.
Mr and Mrs Ernest F Gorr and Eileen Green arrived Saturday to spend a week at the home of Mrs Gorrs parents Rex A Green and family They will stay over Sunday for a Class 1931 Diller High School reunion at this place next Sunday.
State Fire Marshal's Office in Lincoln reports 5,048 fires in Nebraska in 1985 causing 79 deaths and 183 injuries with property loss totaling 2,104,899 dollars. It marks the highest fire count in ten years.
A young woman in Evanston Illinois hailed a streetcar for the public and after the ride stopped she placed her foot on the step tied her shoe smiled thanked the conductor and walked away.
Mrs Elmo Hodies of Hebron asks that the Record be sent to her address for two to three weeks while Elmo begins work on a brick duplex starting on the 27th.
A large group travels from multiple places to visit the Friday home in Grundy County Iowa. The party includes the Wiemers Lade Riddle Bounce Tristman and Alpha Wiemers with twenty three people enjoying a wiener roast and sightseeing at Eldora state park. The visitors later depart for Wisconsin and Iowa towns amid a lively gathering.
A postal card from Will Tinstman requests his record be sent to Sheldon Wisconsin. The Tinstmans return to Wisconsin after years in Diller where Will worked as a lineman for the Diller Telephone Co. They own two farms one improved for dairying with Atevant in charge. They plan to improve the other place for residence with Arlie as chief operator. Mrs Tinstman has fully recovered from poor health.
An old style ad promotes Phillip 66 gas and oils claiming a kick not a knock in a million gallon, with easy miles of driving. It asserts cost no more yet saves dollars and provides a contact phone 66.
The Fairbury Journal notes how ads from the Diller bank promote tax assistance with lines like may we help you pay your taxes and quotes a southern saying suah can mister suah can pay em and God bless you.

The Baker Co of Keokuk Iowa will celebrate its 67th anniversary in June. Bakers Products has taken the agency for Baker's Products in Jefferson county and will canvass the territory regularly.
