The Diller public schools will close today. For sale a few Pigey sows. Oak walnut and red elm fence posts 10 to 18 cents. J M Hiatt. A rain may affect Nebraska early week. J L Lamb recovering from illness. Buford Bell from Phillips Nebr returned home. G W Carmichael and family visited Jasper Long and family.
Mrs W M Chapman residing with her grandson Dr Claude Ellis traveled to Wymore on Saturday to visit relatives.
Bryan Tatman traveled to Cuba Kansas on Wednesday to visit his parents and plans to return to work for Earl Weigel this summer.
Miss Esther Steffen’s school in Dist. 64 Blauser neighborhood closed last week with a program on Thursday night and a picnic on Friday with students and families attending to mark the end of term.
Miss Bessie Cherry came back Tuesday from Beatrice where she spent several days with her sisters Mrs. Earl Pearce and Miss Margaret Cherry.
F. W. Lohmeyer of Olivet Kansas, a former local, arrived yesterday and is visiting his brother Henry Lohmeyer and family in the area.
Miss Lois Elwood of near Beatrice, a former Diller high school pupil, visited Wednesday to attend commencement exercises and see Miss Lillian Wohlfarth and others.
A handsome silver trophy won by the Diller basketball team at the State tournament was received this week and placed on display at Waggoner Bros store.
Mrs Mary Miller is to attend a session of the Superior lodge Degree of in Chicago and will visit enroute at Levin and Winside Nebraska.
Farmers near Diller plan corn planting as rains upgrade gardens. Mrs. W. C. Starkey visits son Lew Starkey in Fort Collins Colorado. C. L. Wagagner travels to Fremont Nebraska for a state shooting tournament. Alma Zook of Lincoln visits Diller. B. C. Burkett visits Odell resident Mrs. B. F. Rightner. D. H. Diller returns to Pittsburg Kansas after three weeks with relatives.
Mrs Thos P Price and daughter Velma traveled to St. Joseph Missouri on Wednesday hoping to meet Mr Price returning from New York City.
F W Steffen reports finding a lady's mesh bag containing a small sum of money in his yard last fall. The owner can claim it by paying 30 cents. The senior class raised nearly $100 at their class play Prof Pepp in the opera house last Friday night and received compliments on the performance.
Mrs Harry Welly and her children, nine in number, visit their grandparents Mr and Mrs E energile. Mr Jane plans to move belongings from Thedford Nebraska to Morcroft Wyoming to establish a new home.
Dean Reitze, grandson of D. R. Kelley, was accidentally shot last week in Topeka Kansas while enlisting. he had traveled from Parsons Kansas for the war effort and was reported in critical condition Tuesday.
Next Wednesday May 30th is Decoration Day as residents plan activities. Harvey Clark made a business trip to Liberty Tuesday. The Photo Car resumes on four dates May 12 26 June 9 23. C Diehl notes local trades and social visits. Cattle sold on the St Joe market at 11.35 and 11.50 per hundred.
Notices posted call the annual school meeting in Diller at 2 o clock p m to elect two members of the board of education and transact other business.
Cedric Fanders and wife and their son Wendell traveled by car to Guide Rock Sunday to visit her parents. He returned by train Tuesday after rain Sunday evening prevented driving the car back.
George Henrichs cleaned his feed yards and shipped a car load of cattle and hogs Wednesday. He accompanied the stock to market while Mrs. Henrichs rode No. 16 to shop, visit friends, and plan to return home tonight.
The flag pole has been set in Diller city park and the flag has arrived. Arrangements are being made to raise it on Registra tion Day June 5 at 8 o clock p m with a program to be published next week. It will be a big day in Diller, so plan to attend.
Farmers urge upgrading equipment to boost supply amid high prices. The call includes exchanging the old cream separator for a new Great Western model to improve efficiency during a dry period.
To Parents and Patrons all persons who desire Free High School Privileges for the coming school year should apply to the county superintendent at once. Those who fail to apply by the proper time may lose the privilege at the June 11th meeting. Application cards available from this office upon request. Henry Abrams County Superintendent.
In the Record's latest issue, Mr E A Bugbee aged ninety is humorously inverted to a figure six, setting his age back thirty years. He celebrated with dinner at six miles southwest of Diller on the sixteenth, along with his son D A Bugbee and family, though the note hints he may not be as spry as thirty years prior.
Rev. F A Carmony delivered the baccalaureate sermon at the Difler high school graduation in the opera house. Music by the high school orchestra and union choir accompanied graduates and faculty. The sermon urged graduates toward a life of service, faith, and a large place guided by God.
Special call to attend church services with scripture references listed for July 29 and special services. The notice cites Romans 6 1 11 6 22 and Revelation 6 9 for guidance.
Pastor H. S. Atwood notes Bible school attendance of 80 with 86 present a day, delegates photo sessions for the largest families. The Bible school will end in time for all evening services at the church with practice set for Saturday night.
