W F Steffen of Fresco California visited with his brother Henry Steffen and Diller relatives. He works in California's raisin growing district and offered insight into industry practices. Prof James A Eastwood, former Diller schools superintendent, and brother of Robt and Fred Eastwood, enlisted at Omaha for YMCA war work in France after earlier service as Sutherland Nebraska schools superintendent.

Warnsholz Family Visits Diller Area Returning to Oklahoma

Henry Warnsholz and family, former Diller residents now in Oklahoma, visited old neighbors here last week. They reported Oklahoma wheat knee high, corn planted about three weeks, and a favorable season. They left Saturday by car to visit relatives in Lincoln and would have stayed longer but hurried home.

Great Falls Man Visits Relatives Before Presbyterian Assembly

Neal Maw of Great Falls Montana travels to Cleveland Ohio for the Presbyterian general assembly in Columbus Ohio on May 16 as a lay delegate. He stops in Diller to visit his uncle S D Maw and other relatives. Maw is a son of Fred and Mrs Maw who lived on a farm 434 miles southwest of Diller before moving to Boise City Idaho. He later homesteaded near Great Falls and now works in general merchandise.

A Texas Ranger Show Set For Diller One Night

West Bros presents A Texas Ranger show in a large waterproof tent at Diller on Saturday May 11. The program features Texas Rangers cowboys cowgirls Mexicans United States soldiers and Indians in a single 8 15 p m performance lasting about two and a half hours. The tent seats over 2000 and a cowboy band will perform in the streets and in front of the tent at night.

Mrs Nies Found Dead Near Ellis in Water Tank

The body of Mrs. Mattie Nies 57 was found in a water tank five miles northeast of Ellis on Wednesday morning after she had been ill with stomach cancer. She had recently stayed in a hospital and slipped from home after 11 PM. Her 12 year old daughter discovered the body at about 6 AM. Beatrice county officials said no inquest was needed. She was married to Wm. Nies 18 years and leaves a husband and two children.

The individual has lived in the area for more than forty years and spent several years on a farm operated by A. H. Colman about four miles northeast of Diller.

Next Sunday marks Mother's Day with a morning service after Sunday school featuring music and a pastor delivered sermon. The evening service is led by the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society with songs and a seven girl pantomime. Epworth League also holds a patriotic anniversary with Keep the League Fires Burning. May 14 at 2 30 pm the society meets at Mrs Hale's home. all church ladies invited.
