Auto Truck Crash in Dense Fog Near Beatrice
In dense fog last Thursday a Hastings car carrying Fairbury seniors collided with a state road truck west of Beatrice. Orval Richardson suffered back and chest injuries and a broken jaw. Mrs Hastings broke a leg. injuries also to Miss Jensena and Miss Connie Messenger. They were taken to Lutheran hospital. The caravan included 25 cars and 125 youths on a school trip.

Mrs Edw Best received a letter stating Mr Edward Best of Berkley California died at his home April 22 He was a retired railroad man and had been in poor health for years He was buried at his old home in Atchison Kansas Mrs Best accompanied the body east and is visiting in Kansas.

Mr G M Porter of Lincoln, field representative of the Nebraska Children's Home Society, will visit soon to solicit donations. The private state licensed agency cares for and places children of all ages in Nebraska, funded mostly by voluntary gifts, with local board members Dr S B Viers and Mrs Mollie Riddle. Since 1893 the Jefferson county chapter has helped 114 children with services and placements.
