State Music Contest Held Today in Lincoln
The state musical contest will be held in Lincoln today and tomorrow. The High School Girls Glee Club and Miss Rachel Diller, clarinetist, will compete in the event on Saturday. The Diller group placed high in the district contest and may repeat at Lincoln. Miss See, musical director, will accompany them.

Kids Fishing Contest Attracts Lincoln Youths
Last Saturday at Pioneers Park near Lincoln the Journal reported a Kids Fishing contest with over one thousand boys under 14 using rod and line. The 30 minute event yielded about 1000 bull heads, 172 prizes were awarded, and after planting 6000 bull heads in Haines Branch, over 2500 were reportedly caught by night. Suggestions were made to stock a nearby ravine with yellow catfish for future fishing.

Diller beat Clatonia 6 to 5 in 11 innings in a tight league opener. Fletcher led with three hits and three stolen bases, while Lohse and Carston fanned 13 and Clatonia struck out Diller. Next up Dewitt hosts on May 6 at 3 o clock.

Tincher Family Keeps Odell School Tradition Alive
Beatrice Sun notes that James Robert Tincher will graduate from Odell high school, ending a 31 year run with no Tincher in any Odell grade. Mrs. R. E. Tincher helped found Odell’s first class in 1891 and the Tincher children have long populated Odell schools. Newborn Tincher girls now attend classes, continuing the family presence.

Local clubs stage comedy and chorus for community event
Thirteen cast members from Wymore and Diller clubs entertained Monday evening with a community chorus and a comedy play Comical Country Cousins. Mrs John Carico chaired arrangements with a large cast including Aunt Ophelia Sukey Molly Dela Jane Cecelia Samanthy Sis Hopkins Meindy and May Jimmie. Following the performance a refreshment course was served and plans to repeat the show are in progress.

In a windy day track meet, Diller defeated Odell 54 to 36. Findling swept firsts in discuss shot put high jump 440 yard and broad jump. Henrichs brothers led sprint events while Achtemeier and Johnson posted places. Inter class meet followed with Diller girls dominating events and Diller boys winning sprint and field events.

Countywide Educational Day Draws Thousands Across Schools
Last Friday county high schools hosted Educational Day events with exhibits programs and contests. Several thousand attendees heard band music, enjoyed picnics and sports while districts 66 56 74 86 64 60 89 152 73 and 57 earned top points in academic contests track events art exhibits and attendance with first eight schools reporting over 75 percent enrollment presence.
