Citizens State Bank and local listings appear with notices of sales and services. The item notes a bank cashier W H Schnuelle visiting Beat Rice for osteopathic care, birth of an eight pound boy to Roy Hagerman and Creda Wright, and ongoing city hall work by H K Green Cavett Gear with painters to follow. Miss Anna Hill returns to Humboldt after a weekend at Diller.
Beatrice area items include I D Steiner transacting business. Delmar Hale and Bryan Tatham seen in town. J M Hiatt and Fritz Rees ad for Bee Supplies. Carmichael moves into G B Pearce rental. Mrs McAfee visits Lincoln. Albert Steffen ships cattle and hogs from Shea. Bessie Cherry called to Coffin home near Harbine to nurse a child.
Mrs H S Armstead arrived Monday from Tecumseh and is packing her household goods to move to Auburn where she will reside, having left Tecumseh yesterday for the transition.
Scott Miller has returned to the drug business after buying out Perry Weaver. He took possession on Tuesday and Weaver will work for John Plager, moving onto one of Plager’s farms.
Mrs. Ralph Buchtel came home last week from Hebron where she underwent an appendectomy weeks earlier. She is accompanied by her sister Miss Ida Beckler of Deshler who will stay with her for a few weeks.
An advertisement notes a soda water named Best Botled Sodawater from Superior Brand made with Benzoate of Soda pasteurized. It claims to be the best and priced similarly to inferior brands. Signature reads J. G. Packer dated 4-20-41.
Allen Nelson plans to rename the moving picture theatre Rex and install improvements. He intends to show a film Wednesday and has ordered a new Stan Sm to be ready for business.
H. E. Fairchild of Endicott visited Diller on Saturday. Mrs. Leona Barber and her son Master Dean spent Tuesday with friends at Wymore. Roy Roelfs is moving to Diller from Shea and will join Loock Habicht Co as a clerk. The newspaper also notes the Citizens State Bank ad for the Mysterious Clock elsewhere in the paper.
Ben and Douglas Miller of Lincoln have been visiting relatives the Fairchilds at Endicott since Tuesday.
Mrs E J Catlett travels to Kansas City on Tuesday to pursue treatment for rheumatic affliction at a German hospital seeking relief and care amid medical options available in the city.

Mrs. E. L. Louck and daughter Charlotte joined her husband in Peoria Illinois to be with his father who is in failing health at 87. A later card announced the father’s death Tuesday.
The Avery Lumber Co announces availability of Colorado lump coal on track for this month at storage prices. Place orders for next winter to ensure preparedness.
Geo Strockey traveled to Garnet Kansas on Wednesday after learning his wife visiting a sister there to recuperate from pneumonia was unavailable and in a serious condition.
Mr and Mrs W A Hull returned from a vacation through the south and visited father Alex Bell before departing last Friday for their Lincoln home where Mr Hull works for the Burlington.
Readable fragments report Mrs Hannah Sister of Angora Nebraska, sister to George and John, living 84 miles north of Diller, being treated in a College View sanitarium around mid December.
A resident requests contact for a home jack business discussion. Call is requested between 6 and 8 hours either AM or PM, or between 12 and 1 PM, when the resident is most likely at home.
Wilson Brandt offers an 8-4 Peron stallion weighing 1800 pounds and a Mammoth jack 154 hands high for service at his home three miles south and one mile east of Diller. Terms include ten dollars, cost to stand and suck. Due care is given but no liability for accidents.
R F Sturr reports land sales totaling 54350 in 51 days including transfers of John Cherry 160 to Wm and Frank Eick and Frank and Bessie Grabber John A Andrews 160 to Wm C Line Clyde McCurdy 160 to Ed T Woods and 40 acres of John F Zoellin land to Scede F Weimers. Prospective buyers or sellers are advised to contact Mr Starr.
The K. K. K's gathered at Mrs. C. L. E. Blauser's home Wednesday afternoon for needlework and a two course luncheon hosted by Mrs. E. F. Habicht. Guests of honor were Miss Carrie Lynn and Mrs. Marie Habicht, with boy members Masters Graydon Habicht and Irwin Shutt attending.
At a Monday gathering in the Diller Mercantile Co. store a group of sons of soldiers elected a chairman and secretary and offered to help the G A R and W R C with the Decoration service. They urge all sons of soldiers to join and note a notice of the next meeting will be given. Flamingly, Chairman Uhas, E Darr, Secretaries.
Mrs Volney Raymond returned from Beatrice to her home on Saturday. A full resume of Nebraska laws appears inside this paper. The office will be closed May 7 8 and 9. Dr W L Curtis of Fairbury notes address. Miss Grace Jones and Miss Delia Butcher of Wymore visited Diller friends Tuesday evening. Sam Woods plans a large new barn one mile west and 24 south of Diller.
Paul Logan’s shop at Shea was burglarized Wednesday night of last week with roughly $50 in shoes and other goods taken. Police have no leads.
Many Diller young people were out hanging fanciful May baskets Tuesday night, which, for the most part, were filled with lilacs and apple blossoms, some containing nuts and candy.
The Orleans Chronicle reports construction of a new 26 by 34 foot two story manse with basement 28 by 26 on the Presbyterian property. Rev. John W. Dickson organized the project and the building committee, and sixteen new church members have joined since his arrival. The manse will include bath electric lights and furnace-ready space and is hoped to be dedicated within a few months.
Miss Beulah Bell and her sister Mrs. Millard Gemeny traveled Tuesday to spend a few days with their sister Mrs. Hull in Lincoln.
Church notices invite attendance at the Methodist church Sunday May 6 at 10 am with Sunday School at 7 pm and an 8 pm sermon on The History of a Sin. A Young People's Meeting Tuesday 8 pm and Bible Study Wednesday 8 pm are planned, focusing on the Character of Sin with scriptural references.
Christian Church announces Rally Day marking the start of a men versus women Bible school contest to be held next Sunday. A representative from each side will vie for support as both congregations prepare for a close matchup. The evening sermon titled Voices from the Crags invites all to worship with H. S. Atwood officiating. Choir practice is set for Saturday evening at the church.
